Damsel
Spring of 2025, the Fashion Design Student Association presented a theme titled Tales and Tropes. This show emphasized various character tropes from favorite fairy tales. The Damsel inspired my design in Distress, where I utilized silky pinks, mauves, and greens fabrics. My model was wrapped in ribbons and bows, emphasizing an innocent and virtuous character. As the Secretary, I counted models and ensured the models' pacing was balanced, guests were welcomed, and the show's introduction was communicated smoothly.
Raven
I created "Raven" for the Fashion Design Student Association's 2023 Autumn Fashion Show, titled Silver Linings: A Light in the Dark. This was my first fashion show where I partook as the club's Secretary as well as designer. This semester's theme inspired me to work with a velvet fabric, where the light hits the fabric, producing a lustrous reflection right back to the audience. I titled my design "Raven" to portray an intelligent, playful, yet fierce character. The sheer, black cape acts as the raven's feather layer, smooth, lustrous, and graceful with its movements.
The Viv
"The Viv" was a design created from my Apparel Design Studio course. I have learned the bulk of my sewing skills within this course, along with stitch classes, fashion illustration, pattern making, and more. For my final project, I was easily influenced by Vivienne Westwood's classic designs of punk with plaid. I wanted to create a garment that utilized plaid as its main pattern and leather buckle embellishments to portray the punk attitude.
My Ribbon
"My Ribbon" was my construction for the Fashion Design Student Association's 2023 Spring Fashion Show, titled Blood, Sweat, and Tears. For this theme, I was heavily influenced by Edgar Allen Poe's stories and the Romantic Gothicism in this era. I was enchanted by the reds and blacks, ribbons and lace, and the promiscuity of the see-through fabric utilized for the skirt. This two-piece design is heavily influenced by Poe's most well-known corvid, the raven.
Strawberry Shortcake
"Strawberry Shortcake" was my first construction from scratch. I designed it for the Fashion Design Student Association's Autumn 2022 Fashion Show, titled Wonderland: The Land of Dreams. This design utilized a bright pink and orange fabric, portraying a sweet and innocent garment. I took pride in exploring different lace trims and button embellishments. In exploring this first design, I learned from my mistakes and understood what techniques worked best for me.
